The approach
Taking real steps to prevent suicide requires a whole of community approach. It must draw on the expertise of health professionals, but more importantly will develop a partnership with key agencies and the community.
Planning activities
Planning for the Make A Noise project involved the development of a Health Service strategy on youth suicide prevention. This document communicated the scope and rationale of the health response to young people in crisis at risk of self-harm and suicide in the Greater Southern Area Health Service.
School Link
School-Link is a collaborative initiative between NSW Health and the NSW Department of Education and Training that aims to provide a framework for programs to improve the understanding, recognition, treatment and prevention of depression and related disorders in adolescents.

MAN Online
As an effective marketing tool, Make A Noise Online, has been an important focal point to the release of the social marketing campaign. This website which has been fully developed by the Greater Southern Area Health Service and young people from across the south west is located at http://makeanoise.ysp.org.au/.
